It’s difficult to see past the ‘Misty Isle’ to be fair. From towering mountains, glorious waterfalls, secluded beaches and heather-clad moorland hills, the Isle of Skye has it all.
So what is it about Isle of Skye Elopements that makes them so popular?
Breathtaking Beauty
You probably knew it already but Skye is blessed with stunning landscapes, from sheer cliffs and epic mountains to quiet, quaint beaches and moody lochs.
It provides the perfect setting for intimate ceremonies, ideal for couples wanting a picturesque elopement.
Seclusion and Privacy
Skye’s remoteness offers a feeling of escape from everyday life. Couples looking to elope can enjoy privacy, undisturbed by crowds, in serene and intimate settings.
In the height of Summer however, you may need to venture further afield within the Island away from the popular tourist attractions.
Accessible Yet Remote
While Skye feels remote, it’s still easily accessible from anywhere in Scotland. This is the same case throughout the Highlands.
This makes it a practical choice for couples who want a getaway that’s not too far or difficult to reach. It’s within a 2-hour drive from Inverness and 3 hours from Glasgow.
Historic Charm
Skye boasts a rich history, with ancient castles, prehistoric sites, and quaint villages.
Couples can tie the knot surrounded by Scotland’s history and heritage, adding a touch of magic and authenticity to their elopement. You could even take it one step further and get married in a Clan castle!

"There are so many locations to see, where's best to have our elopement?"
Well, the time of year plays a big part in the answer to this question..
During the height of Summer, the Isle of Skye is extremely busy. So much so that it’s impossible to find somewhere to stay overnight unless booked months in advance.
As a result, many of the ‘dream locations’ such as The Fairy Pools, Sligachan, The Old Man of Storr and The Quarraing can have significant amounts of people visiting during the day and evening. So in my opinion it would be better to find a quiet spot somewhere a bit off the beaten track (I know quite a few) if you don’t want people to be around during your ceremony.
But there are lot’s of beautiful spots away from the madding crowds on Skye despite it being a relatively small island. So don’t worry too much about finding a spot.

The Fairy Pools
Probably one of the most delightful series of waterfalls on Skye.
This is a great spot to go to get some stunning couple photographs with the mountains behind.
It’s about a half hour walk from the carpark but is well worth the walk. There is also plenty of smaller waterfalls and cascades on the way. These could be good for having your elopement ceremony at with the emerald-like water flowing past as you say your vows. Just imagine that for a second!

The Old Man of Storr & Loch Leathan
Another location on Skye with numerous spots within it for both a ceremony and couple photographs.
The Old Man of Storr is a hugely popular location for tourists and as such it can be difficult to find a quiet spot. If you’re willing to venture of the tracks then you’ll easily find a grassy spot for the ceremony.
This view pictured is of the Old Man of Storr from Loch Leathan and as you can see, it’s a spectacular view. This is another alternative spot for perhaps having your elopement ceremony without having people nearbye.

Endless locations with limitless views
It’s easy to forget about some of the lesser known locations on Skye. That can work in our favour given my knowledge of the Island.
My parents lived there for a few years so I spent many a day with my camera driving around the Island. I’d take wee detours down old roads and tracks looking for photographic opportunities.
Sleat on the south of the island has some lovely secluded bays. Staffin to the North has coastal coves and views out to sea. Talisker Beach has gloriously black sand and a sea stack which can make of a great backdrop. Even at Kyleakin as you cross the bbridge to Skye has a beautiful small castle ruin (Castle Moil) which has it’s own charm and beauty.
There are just too many spots to mention but rest assured, I can provide you with not only fabulous elopement photos but some lovely locations too.
How Andy works to give you the best elopement photography experience..
When you book me as your photographer, you’re not just getting stunning images—you’re gaining a trusted partner who will be there every step of the way. I’ll make your day as seamless and special as possible.
Here’s a rough run down of how Andy will work with you..
Initial Enquiry Zoom Call
We’ll start with a friendly Zoom call to go over all the details—your plans, locations, style preferences, and any special moments you want captured. This ensures I’m fully aligned with your vision for the day. It also gives you the chance to meet me so to speak ahead of making any decisions and gives you the opportunity to ask any questions surrounding your Highland elopement plans and dreams.
Itinerary
Once we’ve established what sort of elopement you and your partner would like I will then create a rough itinerary of how the experience will take shape.
This will include locations, timings and some suggestions of where to start and what to do. Itineraries are really important so that you both know what to expect. This will be completely editable so you will have the chance to ammend anything that you want. Once you’re happy with the plan it will then be a case of paying a deposit to secure the date and my services.
Meeting & Transportation
On your big day, I’ll arrange to meet you at a location that works for you, whether it’s your accommodation, a scenic spot, or somewhere meaningful to you both. I can also drive you to your ceremony location or shuttle you to different spots throughout the day if you’re looking to do a few photo sessions at various locations. Just let me know if you’d like transportation included in your quote.
Flexible Session Lengths
I offer 1.5-hour, 3-hour, and 5-hour packages, but I’m also happy to customize your session to meet your needs. If you want to extend your time with me for more coverage, we can easily arrange that too!
Sneak Peek Highlights
You won’t have to wait long to see the magic! A few days after your shoot, I’ll send you a small selection of taster highlights from the day, giving you an exciting preview of the full collection.
Final Edited Photos
Depending on the time of year an how busy I am, you can expect to receive a professionally edited gallery with all your stunning images, ready for you to enjoy and share within around 6-8 weeks from your elopement date.
Copyright & Sharing
You’ll share the copyright of the photos, meaning you can print, use, and display them however you like, without any restrictions other than the images can’t be used for commercial purposes unless discussed in advance.
Online Gallery & Built-In Store
You’ll receive a personalized online gallery where you can download your images, share them with friends and family, and even order prints directly through the gallery’s built-in store.
