Felicia and Hung are all the way from the United States visiting the Scottish Highlands. They want an Isle of Skye Elopement Photographer to capture some shots of them at The Old Man of Storr.
I am of course delighted to help the young couple from Texas.
The Old Man of Storr
Felicia is looking for some advice on their trip to the Isle of Skye. She’s looking for suggestions of somewhere to get shots of her and her Fiance on the Isle of Skye that will showcase the stunning scenery.
I suggest amongst other places, The Old Man of Storr as there is relatively easy access to the location from the roadside. Felicia has a wedding dress with her and doesn’t want to be walking too far for the photoshoot.
Alternative Isle of Skye Elopement Locations
Another location that’s worth considering is the Fairy Pools in Glen Brittle. This is a stunning location but it does come with the issue of distance. It’s around a 45 minute walk to the pools from the carpark and requires sturdy, outdoor footwear.
Felicia and Hung choose my 1 Hour Elopement Shoot package so we agree that The Fairy Pools isn’t a great choice given the time it takes to get there.
As an Isle of Skye Elopement Photographer Neist Lighthouse is another beautiful location for an elopement shoot. The sweeping path down towards the lighthouse gives you plenty of backdrops to choose from and if the weather permits, you can brave the cliff tops.
Ascending the Old Man of Storr
As we depart the Carpark we are quickly faced with a rather steep ascent to find views worthy of a photoshoot. Despite this, it’s worth the small trek towards the mountain and we soon find a spot.
My Nephew joins me to help with carrying some extra photographic equipment. We stop at a spot looking up to the peaks and get our first shots in the bag.
Isle of Skye Elopement Photographer: Finding different angles
As we continue up the Old Man of Storr I want to find different angles. This is to give Felicia and Hung a good variety of photos for their gallery.
We are restricted in where we can go but I find a nice location by a wee Lochan.
It’s a lovely spot and I can capture the couple with the mountains in the background.
Taking in the Isle of Skye scenery
As an Isle of Skye Elopement Photographer it’s easy to get caught up in the job and forget your surroundings. But getting to work in such spectacular scenery is a real blessing.
It’s no wonder so many flock from all over the World to visit the Isle of Skye. Felicia and Hung were loving every minute of our photoshoot.
We even manage to spot two Golden Eagles soaring in the air currents alongside us on the mountainside.
Unfortunately I don’t have the right lens to get any snaps of the magficent birds of prey.
Isle of Skye Elopement Photographer: Capturing something unique
I wanted to capture something unique for Felicia and Hung. After all, they travelled half way across the world and asked me to be their Isle of Skye Elopement Photographer. So I wanted to give them something a bit unique and special.
We were very lucky with the weather on Skye with the sun shining for most of our photoshoot. So i decided to get some shots of the happy couple in silhouette. I spot a tree on the horizon and encourage them to stand beside it.
We now have some context to the photos rather than just two people standing on a moor.
I experiment with silhouette shots against the sun before deciding to take some flash lighting out. I want to have them illuminated whilst still having the sun behind them. This creates dramatic portraits.
It was cold and i didn’t want Felicia and Hung getting frozen so quickly grabbed some shots and called it a day. I was pretty happy with the final shots I must say.
Felicia and Hung were delighted too and were grateful of my suggestion of the tree shots when I showed them the final results.
