Choosing where to have your elopement in Glencoe

Like so much of the Scottish Highlands, there is a huge choice of spots within Glencoe to choose to have your ceremony.

For an outdoor ceremony it really is a case of looking around and deciding whether you want to have it beside a waterfall, up a hill looking down on the scenery or a mixture of both.

As a wee guide below are some of the popular spots for Glencoe Elopements.

Buachaille Etive Mòr

Situated just off the main road (A82) through Glencoe is this beautifully picturesque spot.

With glorious cascading waterfalls and the iconic Buachaille Etive Mòr mountain looming behind, this is one of the best spots for Glencoe elopements.

It has everything; mountainous views, waterfalls and views up and down Glencoe.

It is however a very popular location with photographers and visitors. Therefore it’s worth considering what time of year and day you’d like to have your elopement ceremony here.

Fear not though, there’s enough space around the falls to find somewhere quiet.

Loch Achtriochtan Cottage

Probably one of the most photogenic buildings in Glencoe, Loch Achtriochtan Cottage sits at the foot of Bidean Nam Bian mountain overlooking the Loch.

On a calm day the loch provides stunning glass-like reflections which make for fantastic couple photographs either before, during or after your ceremony.

The cottage sits on private ground and therefore is inaccessible. However, the backdrop of the cottage can be enjoyed from numerous spots around Loch Achtiochtan.

The River Coe also flows from the Loch down towards Ballachullish making Loch Achtriochtan perfect for Glencoe Elopements.

Other locations in the area for Glencoe Elopements

The possibilities in and around Glencoe for either your elopement ceremony or photos really are endless.

It’s a case of deciding whether you want to stay in the one spot or move around. I would certainly be recommending we visit a few different spots for the photos just to give you some variety. Depending on which package you want to go for there is the option to choose several different locations for the photos.

Glencoe Lochan

This beautiful small loch nearbye is secluded and sheltered from the weather by pine forests.

Only a few minutes drive from Glencoe village itself it’s definately worth considering for either your ceremony or photographs or both.

It also has a lovely jetty with views of the mountains peaking over the trees so is a must for photos.

Rannoch Moor

If you prefer multiple lochs with islands and mountain views then Rannoch Moor is definitely worth considering.

Again, there are numerous spots on the moor for photos with access being very easy from the main road.

Finding a space to ourselves is very straight forward too with the amount of small islands peppered throughout the lochs.

Eilean Munde (Loch Leven)

Eilean Munde is a small island in Loch Leven, which can be accessed by a short boat ride.

It offers a peaceful, private setting.

The loch itself, framed by towering hills, makes for a tranquil yet stunning ceremony backdrop with the infamous Pap of Glencoe mountain looking down on you as you say your vows. Magical..

Glen Etive

Known to many as the location for the iconic James Bond Film Skyfall, Glen Etive is another beautifully picturesque glen beside Glencoe.

Access is from the main A82 road that runs through Glencoe and Glen Etive itself is pretty vast.

With numerous waterfalls and mountainous views it’s another popular location for Glencoe Elopements.

How Andy works to give you the best elopement photography experience..

When you book me as your photographer, you’re not just getting stunning images—you’re gaining a trusted partner who will be there every step of the way. I’ll make your day as seamless and special as possible.

Here’s a rough run down of how Andy will work with you..

Initial Enquiry Zoom Call

We’ll start with a friendly Zoom call to go over all the details—your plans, locations, style preferences, and any special moments you want captured. This ensures I’m fully aligned with your vision for the day. It also gives you the chance to meet me so to speak ahead of making any decisions and gives you the opportunity to ask any questions surrounding your Highland elopement plans and dreams.

Itinerary

Once we’ve established what sort of elopement you and your partner would like I will then create a rough itinerary of how the experience will take shape.

This will include locations, timings and some suggestions of where to start and what to do. Itineraries are really important so that you both know what to expect. This will be completely editable so you will have the chance to ammend anything that you want. Once you’re happy with the plan it will then be a case of paying a deposit to secure the date and my services.

Meeting & Transportation

On your big day, I’ll arrange to meet you at a location that works for you, whether it’s your accommodation, a scenic spot, or somewhere meaningful to you both. I can also drive you to your ceremony location or shuttle you to different spots throughout the day if you’re looking to do a few photo sessions at various locations. Just let me know if you’d like transportation included in your quote.

Flexible Session Lengths

I offer 1.5-hour, 3-hour, and 5-hour packages, but I’m also happy to customize your session to meet your needs. If you want to extend your time with me for more coverage, we can easily arrange that too!

Sneak Peek Highlights

You won’t have to wait long to see the magic! A few days after your shoot, I’ll send you a small selection of taster highlights from the day, giving you an exciting preview of the full collection.

Final Edited Photos

Depending on the time of year an how busy I am, you can expect to receive a professionally edited gallery with all your stunning images, ready for you to enjoy and share within around 6-8 weeks from your elopement date.

Copyright & Sharing

You’ll share the copyright of the photos, meaning you can print, use, and display them however you like, without any restrictions other than the images can’t be used for commercial purposes unless discussed in advance.

Online Gallery & Built-In Store

You’ll receive a personalized online gallery where you can download your images, share them with friends and family, and even order prints directly through the gallery’s built-in store.
