I have looked forward to this wedding for quite some time. Showcasing my best Achnagairn Castle Wedding Photography from 2023.

Why? Well, because it’s one of the most breathtaking, five-star exclusive use wedding venues in the Highlands of Scotland.
Not only are the grounds spectacularly well kept and vast but the interiors are something else too. Especially the historic, vaulted ballroom.

Emily and Ross’s Autumnal Achnagairn Castle Wedding

I arrived at the Castle fairly early in the October morning ready to begin. The trees in the grounds were looking particularly Autumnal. Emily and Ross had booked me for the Preparations to First Dances package.

The weather Gods were certainly on our side as blue skies were upon us. Not a common occurrence during Autumn months in the Highlands! The trees were bright yellow with the Copper Birch looking a fiery Orangey Red colour. A great backdrop for the group photos i thought.

The Wedding Preparations

Emily was joined by her nearest and dearest as things got underway ahead of the 1pm ceremony. The girls got ready in the Happily Ever After bridal suite. The Groom – Ross was chilling with best man Ben and Father Frank in the Carpe Diem deluxe room.

The Wedding Ceremony in the Vaulted Ballroom

As the wedding guests gathered in the vaulted ballroom, Emily enjoyed some final moments with her Father and bridesmaids.

There was palpable excitement and some last minute nerves too as everyone made their last minute adjustments. Dresses on and last sips of champagne. Father of the Bride John led Emily and the bridesmaids out of the Bridal Suite. They made their way downstairs.

Capturing The Wedding Group Photos

Whilst many couple nowadays aren’t particularly bothered about posed group shots, they do however still want them for relatives. This for me is one of the most stressful parts of the day. It involves a fair amount of organising. It also relies on the couple and their guests being available and ideally ready to get into position.

Achnagairn Castle has many locations in the grounds for posed group photos. I find that the lawn area to the West of the mai building is the best for this. There is space for large numbers whilst also space for people to gather ahead of their photos.

There is also a large beach tree here which in Autumn is a great backdrop.

Achnagairn Castle Wedding Photography – The Mr & Mrs Shots

Ofcourse when it comes to capturing weddings, getting the couple shots are pretty high up on the priority photo list. For Emily & Ross’s wedding we had lovely, crisp Autumnal weather. This meant we were able to go outside in the grounds at Achnagairn.

Autumn is a great time of year for colours and Achnagairn Castle is blessed. It has an abundance of various species of tree and flower. There is no shortage of colour available to you at Achnagairn.

The Reception and Dances

As the day continues into the evening there are lots of opportunities for candid wedding photography. The wedding reception is always a good time for this. At Achnagairn Castle they have a fantastic room for capturing candid moments.

The Garden Room is a fabulous area where guests gather between moments during the wedding. It’s great for capturing people mingling together and spotting special moments.

The Evening Reception and Dances at Achnagairn Castle

As night falls everyone decended to the Ballroom for the first dances. They were treated to music from Scottish Ceilidh Band Stravaig who got everyone on their feet. They talked through every dance with the guests to ensure everyone had a chance of dancing.

Ross and Emily were loving every minute. I was too as I frantically ran around trying to capture folk in mid dance.

It was such a great wedding to be a part of and I’m looking forward to my next wedding at Achnagairn Castle.
