Glen Affric Elopements: The Highland's Hidden Glen of Love & Romance

One of the lesser known Glens, Glen Affric is without doubt one of the best elopement locations for seclusion and intimacy.

Situated just 45 minutes drive from the Highland Capital of Inverness, Glen Affric is a hidden jewel in the crown of Scottish ELopement locations.

Why Glen Affric is one of the best locations in the Scottish Highlands for eloping to..

Easily Accessibile

Glen Affric is located north of Loch Ness and is just a 45 minute drive from Inverness.

This accessibility, along with a range of nearbye hotels and guest houses, makes it an automatic choice for couples looking to tie the knot in a remote yet reachable location.

Andy is based in Inverness and can arrange to drive you to your Glen Affric elopement should you be nervous of driving the small single track roads up the Glen.

Breathtaking Scenery

Glen Affric is often considered one of Scotland’s most stunning glens.

A magical mix of native woods, glistening lochs and haunting moorland. It features over 30 miles of ancient pinewoods and is one of the largest ancient Caledonian pine woods in Scotland.

Having no through road means it is less busier than some of the other Highland Glens giving you more intimacy, privacy and seclusion for your elopement ceremony.

The Variety of locations

Glen Affric is blessed with an array of different scenes and locations.

From the native Caledonian Pine forests, the small islands located around Loch Affric and the water cascades of Dog Falls, there are so many spots to choose from.

What makes it even better is that these locations are all within a 5 minute drive of each other whilst remaining secluded in the Glen itself.

An abundance of wildlife

Whilst eloping in Glen Affric you may want to bring your binauculars!

Glen Affric is home to many wild animals including the elusive Otter, the magestic Golden Eagle and the resident Red Deer Stags that roam wildly all over the area.

During the Summer months Ospreys can be seen feeding from Loch Affric and neighbouring Loch Beinn a’ Mheodhoin.

Deciding where to have your elopement ceremony in Glen Affric

The weather can often play a part when deciding where to have elopement ceremony (should you want to have an official ceremony).

Dog Falls is one of the first carparked spots you come to when driving up the Glen. There are cascading waterfalls  here as the River Affric runs through the gorge.

There are also public toilets here as well as handy information signs with maps etc. There are numerous spots down by the river for having an elopement as well as photographs.

Other nearbye locations worth considering as well

Depending on how long you want me to be with you, there are numerous options worth considering.

For example, if you were going for a 2 or 3 Hour package we could definately consider some of these locations for additional shots.

Plodda Falls

Plodda Falls is around 15 minutes from Glen Affric and can easily be visited either on the way to or way back from your Glen Affric Elopement.

There is a magnificent walkway that takes you out above the actual falls which are very high – over 130 foot high to be precise.

If you’re nervous of heights then this is probably best avoided but there is the option to walk to the foot of the falls.

Glen Cannich & Mullardoch

Right next to Glen Affric is the neighbouring Glen Cannich and Mullardoch.

A similar Glen but with more open vistas as you drive up. The road ends at Mullardoch Dam which is pretty impressive in itself. There are plenty of lovely spots on the way up and there is an almost certain opportunity of seeing red deer all year round.

Loch Ness

If you plan staying in Inverness during your trip to the Scottish Highlands then Loch Ness is certainly worth stopping off at.

Should you choose a 2 or 3 hour elopement package then we can easily stop-off and get some shots of you both on the banks of Loch Ness. There’s also the picturesque villages of Drumnadrochit and Cannich for a bit of variety in your elopement photos.

Inverness

With a 2 or 3 hour elopement package, Inverness can easily be included in your Glen Affric elopements plan.

If you plan to stay in Inverness then I can meet you both there, take you to some nearbye spots for photos before hitting the road.

Loch Ness as mentioned is on the way to Glen Affric  so the possibility of getting shots at all 3 locations and more is achievable.

Here’s how your elopement experience will unfold:

Pre-Ceremony Zoom Call

We’ll start with a friendly Zoom call to go over all the details—your plans, locations, style preferences, and any special moments you want captured. This ensures I’m fully aligned with your vision for the day.

Itinerary

Once we’ve established what sort of elopement you and your partner would like I will then create a rough itinerary of how the experience will take shape.

This will include locations, timings and some suggestions of where to start and what to do. Itineraries are really important so that you both know what to expect. This will be completely editable so you will have the chance to ammend anything that you want. Once you’re happy with the plan it will then be a case of paying a deposit to secure the date and my services.

Meeting & Transportation

On your big day, I’ll arrange to meet you at a location that works for you, whether it’s your accommodation, a scenic spot, or somewhere meaningful to you both. I can also drive you to your ceremony location or shuttle you to different spots throughout the day if you’re looking to do a few photo sessions at various locations. Just let me know if you’d like transportation included.

Flexible Session Lengths

I offer 1.5-hour, 3-hour, and 5-hour packages, but I’m also happy to customize your session to meet your needs. If you want to extend your time with me for more coverage, we can easily arrange that too!

Sneak Peek Highlights

You won’t have to wait long to see the magic! A few days after your shoot, I’ll send you a selection of taster highlights from the day, giving you an exciting preview of the full collection.

Final Edited Photos

Within 6-8 weeks, you’ll receive a professionally edited gallery with all your stunning images, ready for you to enjoy and share.

Copyright & Sharing

You’ll share the copyright of the photos, meaning you can print, use, and display them however you like, without any restrictions.

Online Gallery & Built-In Store

You’ll receive a personalised online gallery where you can download your images, share them with friends and family, and even order prints directly through the gallery’s built-in store.

Whether you’re having an intimate 1 hour couples elopement or a larger package with close friends or family, I’ll be there to capture every moment. Making sure you have beautiful memories to look back on forever. Let’s chat about how I can help bring your vision to life!
