Wedding photography is personal. For me, getting to know the couple and hearing their story is one of the most important steps to capturing the energy and the magic of a wedding. So I would like to introduce myself, and tell you a bit about how I work.
I’m Andy Allan and I am a wedding photographer based in Glasgow, Scotland. I am the proud dad of two kids and one cat, and husband to my amazing wife Rachel. Our family life is in Glasgow, but a big part of my heart will always be in the Highlands of Scotland, which is where I grew up, and where I found my love of photography.
I am a romantic at heart. I have never lived down the day I struggled to keep the tears back at a friend’s wedding. The truth is I absolutely love weddings. Witnessing two people commit their lives to each other in front of their loved ones gets me every time.
I met my wife in the Park Bar in Glasgow. She now says that I don’t know when to leave a party. But when the music is playing and the craic is flowing, I am at my happiest. A wedding is about the couple, but it is also about loved ones coming together to share in a special occasion. As a wedding photographer I get to meet so many characters, young and old. Catching the fleeting interactions and authentic emotions of a wedding is what my photography is all about.
For me, wedding photography and landscape photography go hand-in-hand. My absolute passion is for capturing the intimacy of a wedding while making the very most of the setting the couple have chosen for celebrating their big day. And if I get a trip to the Highlands out of it, you won’t hear me complaining.
